ALFRED’S STORY

‘Imprinted’ one of the pieces that will be showcased on the restaurant wall. A meaningful, organic, work of art in memory of Charley Petty.

The name Petty Fours originated from Chef Alfred’s Surname; Petty, with the Fours, being symbolic to Alfred being one of four brothers. The name also hints at the sweet ending to the Petty Fours experience the petit fours.

Chef Alfred grew up alongside his three brothers, Aaron, Charley and Jack. Their childhood was enjoyed by playing board games together, their favourites being Chess and Monopoly.

A month before the restaurant was due open, Chef Alfred lost his younger brother, a loss that changed everything. In the midst of grief came a reminder: memories are the most important thing we carry.

Around the restaurant, you’ll find playful nods to Alfred’s childhood, Chess pieces; Lego bricks, and games once filled quiet afternoons with laughter.

Like those cherished games, food is a universal language, it brings people together, crosses generations, and creates lasting connections.

These touches of nostalgia are not just décor, they are tributes to the past, woven into a space built for comfort, warmth, and making new memories.

    “Hadn’t been for a while but so happy to enjoy Alfie’s great food once again. Delicious starters with a rich generous lobster risotto I myself had the scallops served differently on a daily basis. This was with carrot puree and bacon. My son had crispy pig cheeks. All superb. Mains were great with lobster, lobster plus fillet , fillet and the veggie beetroot main. Delicious. For dessert the lemon tart was the popular choice but I had the panna cotta. Again delicious. Such a wonderful restaurant and taste experience”.

We have eaten in many Michelin Star restaurants and the food was was just as impressive and far better than some. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was comfortable.     “Lovely, modern little restaurant, right in the centre of Truro. Council car parking a very short walk away. We saw all the fantastic reviews online and that they had just won Muddy Stilletos 2025 Best Restaurant, Cornwall award so decided it would be a good choice to celebrate my Husband's birthday. Our waitress was lovely, really friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Made us feel very welcome. Let us choose our table and kept drinks topped up all night. We chose the set menu- which still felt special in the way that it was executed with lots of little extras. It was also fantastic value for money. The food was exceptional, every course, stunning and the fillet steak was cooked perfectly -and very tasty. The food presentation was modern and you could tell how much care and thought had gone in to creating every single dish. We loved Petty Fours and can't wait to go back to try the tasting menu. We could easily see why they won Best Restaurant and why the reviews are so good. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening”.
